A Teacher, A Woodworker, A Gentle Man

Harold Bennett, 85, of Portland, passed away peacefully at home on September 26, 2026, with his family beside him. Born in 1941, Harold taught high-school physics for thirty-eight years and could make half a classroom fall in love with pendulums. In retirement he built cradles for every grandchild on the street — and several streets beyond it.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, June; his children David and Susan; and seven grandchildren who called him Grandpa Fix-It. He was preceded in death by his brother Alan.
